KOTA KINABALU: Coach Drago Mamic will make a minor reshuffle to his first team in search of a winning combination for the winless Rhinos in their Premier League challenge.
The Croatian is expected to make at least three changes to the squad which lost 1-0 to Armed Forces last week.
Paulus Shitaleni Shipanga is the surprise omission as the Namibian hitman was not in the Rhinos’ 16-member squad that left for Kedah yesterday.
The Rhinos will take on Kuala Muda Naza in a match that will be played at the Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Star tonight.
“We have decided to give him a rest,” said team manager Rahman Zakaria when asked about Paulus’ case.
Besides Paulus, Bobby Gonzalez and Zainizam Marjan both started the Armed Forces game, but tonight, they would have to give way to Henry Soimpon, Burhan Ajui and Chow Chee Wing, who are all expected to regain their first team places.
The rest of the players are likely to be retained.
Chow is likely to be in attack together with the Rhinos’ leading striker Charles Obi.
P. Rajes would complete Drago’s three-man strike-force with Henry Soimpon and Rosdin Wasli in the middle of the park, while Burhan Ajui on the right of midfield and S. Sunder on the left.
Ahmad Tharmini Saiban, Henry Parsi and striker-turned-defender Salvester Sindeh would be the driving force at the Rhinos’ backline, while G. Jeevanatham remains the number one ball stopper.
Harold John, Zulamri Muhammad, Zainizam, Bobby, and Azrul Ejati Damsah also made the trip.
The Rhinos are languishing third from bottom in the 11-team standings with only one point to show after three games.
They picked up the sole point in the two-all draw against Selangor PKNS in the opener before suffering two consecutive defeats.
And Rahman wants the Rhinos to stop the rot immediately.
“It will be the same objective here and that is to try to win the game.
“The coach has been doing his best in trying to get the team to win, and I hope the players will do their part.
“I hope everything will go our way tomorrow, because in our last three games, we have been playing quite well, but maybe we need a bit of luck. With a bit of luck, I think we could have won any one of those games,” added Rahman.
