Former Reserve League striker Restu Emat turned hero for his side by netting the solitary goal of the day five minutes before half time.
It was Beverly FC’s second straight victory after registering a 2-1 win over FELDA FC 2-1 in the opener at the Penampang Stadium last Sunday.
“It is good to start our very first away game on a winning note. It will give the players the much-needed confidence and self-belief. I’m really happy with the result,” said team manager Mat Amin Samsuddin yesterday.
“It was a very tough game, and could have gone either way, but I’m pleased with the players for what they have done on the battlefield.
“They fought hard from the start and showed high fighting spirit, and we could not have asked for more from them,” he added.
Mat Amin hoped that after the two consecutive wins, it would help instill confidence among the players.
“It is only two matches, and our journey is still long. So now, it is important for the players to keep up the good work, and try to improve in every game,” Mat Amin said.
“But overall, I’m happy with the performance of the players although there is certainly room for improvement,” he added.
Beverly’s next game is up against KOR RAMD (Melaka) on Saturday.
