The lanky hitman failed to get a release from his employer for the trip to Kuala Terengganu. Zaykiel, who struck a brace in the 2-1 win over FELDA FC in the opener at the Penampang Stadium last week, will surely be missed by the team.
“His absence is a big blow to us. This is our first away match for the club, and it would be good if we had our best squad for the game.
“But now, we have to play without one of our key players and it is sort of a setback for the team,” said chief coach Awang Sabtu Jamil.
However, Awang said he is not too worried about getting a replacement for Zaykiel as he has several other options.
“We have a capable replacement in Rizal (Awang Jad) who like Zaykiel has top flight football experience … I’m sure he will be able to perform his responsibility to the fullest,” said Awang when contacted yesterday.
Besides Zaykiel, Awang said that he is unlikely to make any changes to the team which played against FELDA FC.
“There is also no specific strategy for the game apart from playing our normal game. We were rusty in the first match but the team have been preparing well since … we are ready for the task and the aim is to bring back all three points,” he said.
“We were not up to the mark in the first match but we won the game and I believe it has only injected confidence into the players to do even better tomorrow (today),” added Awang.
