KOTA KINABALU: The Rhinos will miss the services of their influential midfielder Rosdin Wasli when they take on Kedah in the Malaysia Cup Group C top-of-the-table clash on Saturday.
The lanky player will be serving his automatic one-match suspension after picking up his second yellow card in the 3-0 victory over Sarawak in a Borneo Derby clash at the Likas Stadium last Saturday.
Team manager Rahman Zakaria said youngster Zulamri Muhammad is also doubtful for the clash.
“He is having a hamstring problem and is unlikely to make the trip. So with both of them out, I guess there will be a minor reshuffle to our first-team squad.
“Although we will miss Rosdin’s services, but this is a team game, and there is no reason for us to be too worried about losing Rosdin. We have several options and I don’t think there will be any problem in filling in the vacuum left by them,” Rahman said.
And if Rhinos’ coach Drago Mamic is to play his usual squad, then we will see the partnership of Nigerian striker Charles Obi and Salvester Sindeh in the Rhinos’ attack, with out-and-out striker Arkadiusz Jerzy Zarlzynski at the middle of the park.
Either Henry Soimpon or Zainizam Marjan is likely to come in for the suspended Rosdin while Chow Chee Wing, who has formed a partnership with Rosdin in midfield in the Rhinos’ last several games, is likely to be switched to the right flank with P. Rajes remaining on the left.
At the backline, skipper Ronny Harun, who missed the Sarawak clash due to injury, is expected to be back into the first team.
If Ronny is fit for the Kedah clash, then Burhan Ajui will again have to start from the bench, as Ahmad Tharmini Saiban, Prince Eboagwu and S. Sunder would surely see first-team action.
Commenting on the Sarawak clash, Rahman said: “It was a good win. We tried very hard, and could have won with a bigger goal margin. We squandered numerous scoring opportunities, but I think 3-0 is a good win.”
“Now it is important for the players to maintain this winning momentum. It will be a difficult game against Kedah, but as long as we play as a team like always, I’m sure we will get what we want,” said Rahman.
In the Sarawak clash, Arkadiusz netted his first goal for Sabah. Obi and youngster Azrul Ejati Damsah were also on the scoresheet.
