Sabah stumbled in their own backyard

Sabah lost steam in their fight for promotion when they stumbled againts third-placed team Kelantan in Likas last night. It seems that everyone left their boots in the dressing room, attack was almost disorganized, the movement of the ball doesn't go with the players direction and it seems that the players has already given up hope of chasing the place for top-flight football.

From the starting whistle, Kelantan were the hungrier team but their display was nothing positive either. However that underlines just how bad Sabah was playing, if the visiting team was bad, the Rhinos were worst.

Sabah's play weren't threatening at all and even if Sabah were to score, it would be a fluke. It became so bad, that when Kelantan scored their first goal, a section of the crowd clapped for the visiting team and boos were for the homeside.

Everyone thought Sabah would come back strongly in the second half, instead it got worse. Defender Munir was sent off with another half an hour to go. He was shown a straight red for elbowing a Kelantan's striker.

Coach Drago didn't make  any substitution and let Sabah played without posing any real danger to the visitor. Now with an extra man, Kelantan doubled their lead in the 72nd minute after the defenders were caught watching a high ball which fell to their rival in front of goal.

After that then coach Drago sent in Bobby Gonzales and Azrul Ejati Damsah to energise the team. It worked when Bobby scored a goal with 10 minutes left on the clock. However, that solitary goal was all they could get.

In the end, it was what the team deserved, zero point and maybe a goodbye kiss to the 2 superleague promotion places.
