Football Riot in Kelantan
KOTA BAHARU, April 7 (Bernama) — Things turned nasty after hosts Kelantan went down 0-1 to visitors Negeri Sembilan in their FA Cup seminifinal first leg match at the Sultan Mohammed IV Stadium here tonight.
A toppled police four-wheel drive vehicle burning outside the Sultan Mohamad IV Stadium in Kota Baru last night.
Kelantan goalkeeper Mohd Sharizan Ismail and Negeri Sembilan player Mohd Aidil Zakuan got involved in a brawl after the match ended at 10.45pm and Kelantan fans, unhappy with the Negeri Sembilan team, turned unruly and started shouting and throwing mineral water bottles around causing the Federal Reserve Unit to step in to disperse some 200 troublemakers.
They were seen hurling abuse at the policeman and even throwing firecrackers at them.
They even damaged a parked Proton Waja car and a four-wheel drive vehicle belonging to the police besides vandalising property around the stadium.
Even FA of Kelantan president Tan Sri Annuar Musa’s Toyata Harrier was not spared in the melee.
Police finally managed to bring things under control at 11.20pm.
Some 20,000 home fans turned up for the important match.
