PETALING JAYA: The Kelantan FA (Kafa) have been slapped with a total fine of RM90,000. And the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium in Kota Baru has been suspended as a venue for all matches sanctioned by FA of Malaysia (FAM) until the end of the year.
The FA of Malaysia (FAM) disciplinary board chairman, Kamaruddin Abdullah, said that Kafa would also have to incur the cost of all damages for the ugly incidents that happened at the stadium when they hosted Negri Sembilan in the Super League on March 31 and in the FA Cup semi-final first-leg match on April 7.
“We view the incidents seriously. They are repeated offences,” said Kamaruddin at a press conference at the Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya yesterday.
Kelantan were scheduled to play Selangor at home tomorrow but the competitions committee on Thursday deemed the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium a high-risk venue and ordered the match to be played at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
The committee will decide next week on a venue for Kelantan’s home fixtures for the rest of the season, including their matches in the Malaysia Cup competition beginning in August.
For incidents on March 31, Kafa were fined RM40,000 for not providing adequate security on three charges, which included pelting objects at match officials (RM5,000) and the Negri players (RM10,000) and damaging the Negri team bus (RM25,000).
They were fined RM50,000 for the violent behaviour of their fans on Tuesday. This time, the fans went to the extreme of setting ablaze a police van after overturning it. They also smashed car windscreens and the vehicle of the Kafa president, Tan Sri Annuar Musa, was also not spared.
At least, six people have lodged police reports on their damaged vehicles. The total damages were estimated to be more than RM100,000.
The FAM general secretary, Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad, said that Kafa could appeal against the punishments within two weeks.
Meanwhile, Kelantan’s veteran goalkeeper Halim Napi will be hauled up to face the disciplinary board soon. The former international assaulted Negri centreback Mohd Zafuan Abdul Razak immediately after the FA Cup match, which Kelantan lost 0-1.
