KOTA KINABALU: The Safa West Coast Zone has nominated the honourable Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman as the President of the Sabah FA.
Its Chairman Juil Nuatin said the resolution to nominate Musa was reached at its annual general meeting held over the weekend. Juil said the Zone believes that with Musa at the helm it could help strengthen the association.
“We want to make sure that football remains the Number 1 sport in the State and thus the Sabah FA must carry out its duty more aggressively.
“We also firmly believe that with Musa as the Sabah FA President, it could help develop the sport to greater heights.
At the moment, Deputy President Datuk Lawrence Gimbang is taking over as acting president following Datuk Anifah Aman vacating the post after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s instruction that no minister or its deputy is allowed to hold any post in any sports association.
“Datuk Anifah is now busy with his responsibility after being appointed as Foreign Affairs Minister. However, we still want to get him involved in the association by naming him as our advisor,” said Juil.
Juil also revealed that they have also nominated former vice president and Sabah team manager Datuk Osman Jamal as Deputy President.
The Sabah FA will be holding its annual general meeting cum election for new office bearers come June 20.
