In an unprecedented move, all independent Sabah fan clubs are joining together in wearing black for the home game tonight, protesting against SAFA (Sabah Football Association).
This is spurred on by the horrendous showing by the team in its 9-0 defeat to the Singapore LIONSXIII last Saturday which brought dishonour to the state’s football.
The latest news from SAFA as of this morning was that Justin Ganai has been removed from the coaching position while SAFA is looking to engage a coach from west Malaysia. However even this news will not stop the planned protest as one of their demands is for the entire management of SAFA to be removed and replaced.
We, from SabahRhinos are 100% behind this protest and we are proud to be involved. We believe the problem has started long ago, not just last Saturday and we believe a big shake-up in the SAFA board is the answer. An insider told us that players were not respecting the coach and SAFA officials were involved in the fielding of players during match days.
This type of intervention needs to be stopped and this is why we are protesting. Rumours were also rife regarding the recent resignation of Tuan Hj Shariman from the team management.
So we welcome anyone who would like to join in the protest tonight, to come in black and meet us in Counter 4. That is the gate nearest to the small roundabout outside the stadium. We’ll be chanting and singing all through the night.
PLEASE JOIN US IN SAVING OUR STATE PRIDE!
