Sabah were made to sweat by DRB Hicom as the Rhinos had to come back twice before getting all the three points in their home game opener in Likas yesterday.

Much to the shock of the home fans, the visitors opened the scoring as early as the second minute through a headed goal by Ivan Babic off from a free kick just outside the penalty box.

However Sabah skipper and crowd-favourite El Hadji Diouf equalized just four minutes later following  a melee in front of the visitors goal. Just as the crowd finished celebrating the equalizer the visitors went in front again thanks to an own-goal by import Abdoulaye Faye who sliced the cross into his own net.

The scoreline at 1-2 to the visitors kept the crowd restless at halftime however the second half saw Sabah bounced back.

Two quick goals in the 70th and 74th minute gave Sabah the lead for the first time on the night with Azzizan Nordin and Shafuan Adli being the scorers. There was more drama for the 15,000 fans who thronged Likas Stadium with DRB-Hicom FC’s player Mohd Farid given the marching orders for assaulting Shafuan.

With the win Sabah made it two out of two. With confidence running high lets hope the team can now rectify their weaknesses especially in their defence.

Well done team!
