U-16s urged to turn up for trials
From Daily Express Published on: Tuesday, July 06, 2010 Kota Kinabalu: Under-16 football players interested in playing in the 2010 Borneo Football Cup are urged to turn up for the trials which starts this Sunday (July 11 and next Sunday, July 18) at the Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex Field D (next to the fencing hall), here.
Stanley Chew, who is a fully qualified A-Licence coach, would conduct the trials, which start from 1pm to 4pm.
To qualify for the Under-16 age group, players must be born in the year 1994 or after.
Players are to arrive on time and be prepared to stay until 5pm on both days. They must also be prepared to participate in weekly training if selected both before and after the fasting month of Ramadan.
Those who are successful at the trials would join the KK Select Team to compete in the Borneo Football Cup Under-16 category, which would be held from 26-28 September, here, this year.
Teams from Australia, Japan, South Korea, Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and of course Sabah, have already confirmed their participation in this year's tournament, which is both a youth development tournament and sports tourism event.
The Under-12 ad Under-14 Kota Kinabalu teams for the Borneo Football Cup are being selected from the KK Junior Leagues, which are currently being held every Saturday at the Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex.
The Under-12 category will be held from 3-5 Oct, this year, while the Under-14 category will be held from 30 Sept to 2 Oct, this year.
