Rhinos suffer ninth defeat of the season

July 1st, 2009 by SR Admin | No Comments | Filed in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: The Rhinos squandered a two-goal lead before succumbing to their ninth defeat of the season after conceding a late goal against Felda United to eventually see them losing 2-3 on the road on Monday.

Julamri Muhammad helped Sabah to take the lead by slotting home the opener in the 27th minute, before striker Zaykiel Leong extended their lead 10 minutes later.

But Felda United managed to reduce the deficit four minutes before the half time break through Md Saufi Md Ibrahim.

Md Rizal Ahmad scored the equaliser for his side before former international striker Hasmawi Hassan gave Sabah the killer blow by notching the late winner in injury time.

“This is football and anything can happen, but then again it is sad to see us squandering the chance of winning the game after taking a two-goal lead.

Felda Utd 3 – 2 Sabah

June 30th, 2009 by SR Admin | No Comments | Filed in Sabah

Sabah is back on the losing side when they fell to Felda Utd 3-2 away. Sabah remains at 10th place eventhough they are tied at 14 points with ATM who could only get a scoreless draw against Proton FC as the Rhinos have a superior goal difference.

The Rhinos also have a game in hand over ATM, if (and that is a big if) they can take advantage of that game then they could get some breathing space.

Our neighbours Sarawak was trounced 7-0 last night, it seems football is down in the slumps for the 2 East Malaysia teams nowadays.

News report will be published when they are available.

All of last night’s results:

Selangor PKNS 0 – 1 Johor Pasir Gudang
PBDKT T-Team FC 7 – 0 Sarawak
Melaka FC 0 – 3 Kuala Lumpur
Felda United 3 – 2 Sabah
Shahzan Muda 0 – 1 Harimau Muda
ATM 0 – 0 Proton FC

Stay clear of drop zone

June 29th, 2009 by SR Admin | No Comments | Filed in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: The Rhinos have been urged to distant themselves from the drop zone by clinching victory when they take on Felda United on the road tonight.

Rahman Zakaria said this is their best chance to move out of trouble in their fight for Premier League survival.

The Rhinos’ team manager said a win would help distant themselves from their rivals – Armed Forces and Sarawak.

Tenth placed Sabah are currently one point ahead of 11th placed Armed Forces while Sarawak, who occupy the second last spot for relegation are three points behind Sabah.
